5 Simple Tips to Keep You Productive When Life Gets Busy with Special Events
Late spring and early summer are filled with joyful moments—graduations, family celebrations, end-of-year school programs, outdoor events, and the kick-off to summer activities. But for small business owners, these “happy intrusions” can become overwhelming when trying to move your business forward.
How do you juggle it all without dropping the ball?
The good news is—you can stay productive and fully present for the moments that matter. Here are five simple tips to help you navigate this busy season with more ease and less stress.
Try These 5 Simple Tips
Here are five simple tips to help you navigate this busy season with more ease and less stress.
1. Prioritize with Purpose
Each week, identify the 1–3 most important business tasks that must get done. Focus on progress, not perfection. Let the rest wait. This clarity keeps you moving forward even on the busiest days. Here’s another post that may be helpful.
2. Time-Block Around the Chaos
Instead of trying to work through events, work around them. Use time-blocking to reserve pockets of focused time. Early mornings, a quiet lunch hour, or 90 minutes in the evening can help you stay on track without missing out on special events.
3. Batch Small Tasks
Group your small or routine tasks and tackle them in batches. 15–20 minutes of focused batching (like responding to emails or scheduling social media) can save hours over the week.
4. Set Boundaries - With Grace
You don’t need to attend everything. Choose what aligns with your values and say a gracious “no” to the rest. Your energy is finite—spend it where it counts, in both life and business.
5. Give Yourself Permission
Productivity doesn’t mean non-stop hustle. It means using your time well. Enjoy the baseball game, plant your flowers, celebrate that graduate, and trust that your business will grow when you’re grounded and refreshed
Take Action Activity
Look at your calendar for the next two weeks. Circle your can’t-miss personal events. Then pick three key business actions that will move your priorities forward. Block time for both, and protect that time.
You’ve got this. 🎯
